What happens after I request a consultation?

A designer will contact you by phone, text, or email to learn more about your project. From there, they’ll schedule a consultation to talk through your goals, answer questions, and explain what to expect next.

Do I need a survey, plot plan, or existing drawings to get started?

Usually, no. A survey can be helpful for larger additions or ADUs, but it is not always required to get started. In many cases, we can reference available town records and reflect your approximate lot lines in our design software.

If your property has unique site conditions, unclear boundaries, or specific permitting requirements, a survey may be needed. However, this is not something we commonly run into.

Can you give me a price before the design is complete?

We start with ballpark pricing so you have a realistic idea of cost early on. As the design develops, we refine the estimate and help you understand how different choices affect the overall price. Once the design is complete, we provide a final locked-in price for the project.

Do you help with permits and town approvals?

Yes. We manage the entire permitting process including zoning / planning / conservation board meetings, submittal documents, and payment for the permit.

Can you help me understand what is possible on my property?

Yes. We offer design and construction consulting to help you understand your options before moving forward. We’re happy to discuss your project and answer initial questions at no charge.

Once an engagement agreement is in place, we can begin working through the design, town approvals, specifications, and other details needed to bring your project together.

How long does planning and pre-construction usually take?

Planning and pre-construction timelines can vary depending on the size and complexity of the project. A kitchen or bathroom remodel may take 30 days or less, while an ADU or addition typically takes 30–90 days. Some projects can take longer if additional design work, permitting, or town approvals are required.
Client decisions also play an important role in the timeline. Since the pre-construction process includes layout, selections, pricing, and approvals, the overall schedule depends on both project requirements and how quickly key decisions are made - especially for projects with many detailed specifications.
